Troubleshooting your Dual-mode keyboard

Troubleshooting your Dual-mode keyboard

My keyboard will not work

If your keyboard does not work, here are some steps you can take:
  1. Make sure the switch is in the correct position and not in the middle of either option.
  2. If in wired mode, ensure the wires are pushed in all the way on both ends.
  3. If in Bluetooth mode, try pressing and releasing Fn + 1 at the same time, then let go. If you see a bold LED light come on, try a test type. If no light comes on, you may need to re-sync your device.
  4. (For Bluetooth mode) If the above does not work, you can go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Scroll down to the Security header > File Vault (toggle this off).

Re-sync instructions

  • Go to your system settings, then Bluetooth. If you are able to see the Macally keyboard in your device list, we will want to remove/forget the device first.
  • Turn the keyboard on and then locate the press the ‘Fn’ key and the ‘1’ on the number row.
  • Press  Fn + 1 at the same time, let go. Then press Fn + 1 at the same time for about 3-5 seconds (or until you get a blinking LED light) and then let go.
  • Once the keyboard appears on your device list,  press connect.
